From 65793564f86cdeac1b585133009b6e66764f7fb0 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Jonathan Hui Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2026 23:49:23 -0600 Subject: [PATCH] [nexus] add test 5.5.4.2 Split and Merge with Routers (#12436) Adds a new Nexus test case for 'Split and Merge with Routers' (5.5.4.2) as specified in the test specification. This test verifies that the DUT (Router_1) correctly joins a new higher-priority partition when the Leader is removed and later merges back when the Leader returns. Summary of changes: - Implemented Nexus test 5.5.4.2: - Added test_5_5_4_2.cpp: Sets up a topology with a Leader, DUT (Router_1), Router_2, Router_3, and Router_4. Verifies partitioning behavior, ensuring the DUT joins the higher-priority partition formed by Router_3 and later merges with the original Leader. Uses direct method calls, sets log level to note, and defines links via AllowList. - Added verify_5_5_4_2.py: PCAP verification script for test 5.5.4.2. Ensures properly formatted MLE Advertisements, verifies the DUT does not join a lower-priority singleton partition prematurely, and validates the reattachment and merge process. - Updated build and execution scripts: - Modified CMakeLists.txt to build the new 5.5.4.2 test executable. - Updated run_nexus_tests.sh to include 5_5_4_2 in the default test list. --- tests/nexus/CMakeLists.txt | 1 + tests/nexus/run_nexus_tests.sh | 1 + tests/nexus/test_5_5_4_2.cpp | 279 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ tests/nexus/verify_5_5_4_2.py | 253 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4 files changed, 534 insertions(+) create mode 100644 tests/nexus/test_5_5_4_2.cpp create mode 100644 tests/nexus/verify_5_5_4_2.py diff --git a/tests/nexus/CMakeLists.txt b/tests/nexus/CMakeLists.txt index 08387f72a..c734c32c8 100644 --- a/tests/nexus/CMakeLists.txt +++ b/tests/nexus/CMakeLists.txt @@ -152,6 +152,7 @@ ot_nexus_test(5_5_1 "cert;nexus") ot_nexus_test(5_5_2 "cert;nexus") ot_nexus_test(5_5_3 "cert;nexus") ot_nexus_test(5_5_4_1 "cert;nexus") +ot_nexus_test(5_5_4_2 "cert;nexus") # Misc tests ot_nexus_test(border_admitter "core;nexus") diff --git a/tests/nexus/run_nexus_tests.sh b/tests/nexus/run_nexus_tests.sh index 337ce7b04..a4dbafa60 100755 --- a/tests/nexus/run_nexus_tests.sh +++ b/tests/nexus/run_nexus_tests.sh @@ -82,6 +82,7 @@ DEFAULT_TESTS=( "5_5_2" "5_5_3" "5_5_4_1" + "5_5_4_2" ) # Use provided arguments or the default test list diff --git a/tests/nexus/test_5_5_4_2.cpp b/tests/nexus/test_5_5_4_2.cpp new file mode 100644 index 000000000..2021f57a5 --- /dev/null +++ b/tests/nexus/test_5_5_4_2.cpp @@ -0,0 +1,279 @@ +/* + * Copyright (c) 2026, The OpenThread Authors. + * All rights reserved. + * + * Redistribution and use in source and binary forms, with or without + * modification, are permitted provided that the following conditions are met: + * 1.
